I'm amazed that they made that little robot - bb, right? - as a practical effect. Amazing!

It looks sooo much better than CGI. It's really there.

Is it really bad that I'm looking forward to the Plinkett review more than to the actual movie?

I love the Plinkett review. It almost made it worth having such terrible movies.
Im a kind of take or leave it fan with Star Wars and Trek, but a few things Im excited about:
Maybe getting my nieces into sci fi. They already love Jurassic Park/World.
Brienne of Tarth in movies!!!
Seeing stormtroopers as actual humans.
Old Mark Hamil. So much cooler than young Mark Hamil.
My only reservation is Harrison Ford. Id rather find out that Han Solo got murdered in a card game or something than see Ford sulk around on camera and schmaltz for his massive pay check. Maybe even have Chewie out for revenge!!
Omg, this writes itself...

I'd love to see Luke fall to the Dark Side and kill Han. Just sayin'. Preferably in the first ten minutes of the movie. Maybe I'm just biased because of Indiana Jones 4, but I really don't want to see old Harrison Ford more than is absolutely necessary for the obligatory cameo appearance by his OT character. Plinkett had it right in his Star Trek review; you have to have an old character or two to maintain continuity but you don't want them to overshadow the new guys. Being viciously murdered by a Dark Side Luke would be a fantastic way for Han Solo to go out with a bang, IMO.

Ford just seems bitter and cynical these days. He was in the Expendables ffs. Harrison, if you need money, just let us  know! Im sure we could get a kickstarter to get your fee to just not be in Expendables movies.
Im kind of hoping this will be where balance gets brought to the force, because that hasnt happened yet and Luke as an Obi Wan type wandering mystic with no light or dark allegiance would be awesome.

I agree with the Ford hate, but don't get me started on the "Balance in the Force" BS. Lucas himself stated time and time again that "Balance" means NO MORE DARK SIDE, not as some interpret "equally Dark and Light". I know Lucas is no longer an authority and many people resent whatever authority he DID have, but I agree with him on this one.
Good = Balance.
Evil = Chaos ≠ Balance.

I could do without Ford, but not without the Han Solo archetype.  That is one of the major failings of the non-existent prequels.

Isn't the Han Solo archetype a dashing rogue with a heart of gold? I'm sorry, no pensioner can ever be dashing. IMO Han Solo should never have been allowed to grow old.

Sean Connery pulled it off in The Rock.
But Ford is no Connery it seems.
