I am new here on the forum. Been enjoying other folks creations.  I am a professional CG animator in NYC. I created this bit for fun.

Nicely done! Welcome to the SGUF.

Also, DAMN those red giants are GIANT.

Wow! That's incredible! I struggle to make sense of numbers - that visual really worked though!

One thing I did not portray is that most hypergiant stars are not in fact neat balls in space, but have gradient atmospheres that extend far out.

I think I've seen that before - well done.

Do you know of any videos like this that describe how earthlings see the constellations?  I was trying to explain this to some kids at a state park event Friday night and they didn't grasp my explanation of why there are winter constellations and summer constellations... though they did sort of get why Australians can't see the north star.
Amend and resubmit.

I found one brief lecture.

Years ago I was working with a client who had a traveling planetarium.  Our job was to clean up a James Webb Space Telescope model to use in his planetarium software.  He set the equipment up in the conference room and told us that the demo that freaked people out the most was that the stars in the constellations only look this way from our perspective on Earth.  When in fact, the many stars of each constellation are separated in depth by millions of light years!  His software would take the camera on a journey to multiple places in the galaxy with lines connecting the members of various constellations, which became a tangle of lines that were far from familiar.

This came to me when I thought of animating this idea.
