How accurately does Waze report your ETA to your destination.

Here in DC it's typically off by 10 minutes for me. I'm guessing it's algorithm only calculates ETA based on traffic patterns the moment I start the app. It doesn't use predictive analysis based on a history of traffic throughout the day for some given day. Seems like that shouldn't be so hard to do.

I generally find that it's almost spot-on. Within a couple of minutes, at worst.

^ This. I think it just bases it on your average speed and recalculates as you go but I've never paid too much attention to it.

Mine is pretty accurate as well. I like being able to send ETAs to people. Its very convenient.

I did too but then the maps in my dashboard GPS are 11 years old.

Been using it for a few months. Saved me from major traffic jams on the way to work. Also reported a potential map mistake and was impressed by the support.

I find Waze to be a lot less user friendly than Google Maps.

I find... well, not the opposite, but I don't find that they're particularly different.

I think somebody pointed out up-thread that Google bought Waze, I think to improve on their own platform.

So other than the "game" interactive part of waze, I don't think they are all that different.

It's the user interface of Waze that I find challenging. The Maps interface seems much simpler to me. I try Waze again every year or so; my opinion hasn't changed.

I agree, it's the whole reporting of real time events that I think kind of mucks it up.

the other thing I don't particularly like is that there is no setting for use my location only when using the application. I leave the GPS off most of the time, and only turn it on when I'm actually driving.

That's a problem with the OS not Waze.

Is it? It's an iPhone with the latest updates. I have other applications that have that option, Ingress is one of them, StarChart is another.
