Dammit Ambious, I'm now frustrated on multiple levels thanks to you.
I bought HOMM3 because I fondly remembered the second one. I started playing it and rediscovered how terrible I am at turn based strategy games. I realize the reason I liked HOMM2 so much was that I played the same map literally hundreds of times, so I knew exactly how to budget resources and which order to attack enemies.
Nostalgic to play something I was good at, I stuck in my old HOMM2 disc only to discover the installer refuses to open on Windows 8, even in compatibility mode.
This then reminded me how much stuff I had on my old laptop that I neglected to backup before it went kaput.
Thanks a lot Steam Sales, you've ruined my weekend.
