I had a great time down in Newcastle today as Scotland beat Samoa 36-33 to clinch a place in the quarter finals where we will play Australia.

The ABs seem to have come to the party, just as coach Hansen explained.

The boys were having fun against a very strong side.

As much as I am happy Australia won, if I am truthful the best side didn't win.
Luck and bad refereeing decisions went against the Scots. They should have beaten us and gone forward.

A great game to watch though.

No one does "glorious failure" quite like Scotland :-[

One of the best performances I've seen from a Scotland team in ages and the only game at this World Cup where we played well in both halves.  However despite that and also the fact that is the most points we've ever scored against Australia in a single match we still conspired to lose it.  I know the ref has been the centre of much of the aftermath and his decision to award the penalty.  The thing is we made a complete mess of that line out that lead to it.  If we had won the line out, kept possession for a couple more minutes we were home and dry.  Very frustrating and it feels like we missed out on what could have been one of the greatest moments in Scottish rugby history.  No point in dwelling on what could have been for too long.

Hopefully we can push forward and have a positive 6 Nations campaign.

There has been more coverage of this World Cup than any before here in Canada (from what I can tell anyway).  I've really enjoyed watching the matches.  Admittedly, I don't know all of the rules and subtleties of the game, but it's been really fun to watch.
Not helping the situation since 1979.

Scotland was robbed.

That was a super shitty penalty.

World Rugby have announced the penalty that knocked us out was wrongly award - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/34576756

 :-[

As I said before if we hadn't made such a mess of the line out we wouldn't have been in such a position.  Still frustrating though.

One of the nicest things about my Wales going out to RSA is that I won't have to watch them being demolished by New Zealand in the manner that France were. And it's not like France played badly or gave up (as they sometimes do), but NZ were just amazing... if they can keep that level of play up they might be winning their first world cup trophy away from home!

Agreed and I'm an Aussie and love the Wallabies. The Australian commentators were scathing of the referees decision in the game as a whole. They were particularly appalled at the deliberate knock on decision and sending off of Sean Maitland. That referee should never officiate at international level again.

I think it will be an All Blacks v Wallabies final, with the All Blacks winning. They seem to be at a higher level that the Aussies at the moment. Anyone, but South Africa  >:D

LOL, I don't know if that's a rugby reference, or just a historical joke.
