You got kicked out of Sunday school at age 7 ? I'm impressed. >:D

We had “Hebrew School” at the synagogue. I was a bit older than that when I was once made to stand in the hall for being disruptive. I said “F this” and just walked home.

I think I played along in general until just post-Bar Mitzvah, but the seeds of doubt were pretty firmly planted by then.

Ha. This is the one that got me thrown out of Sunday School at age 7.

Went twice, second time I was 86'd. "Why did God kill all the babies?" Not a question they were ready for. I called bullshit on their explanations.

Mom decided that experiment was over. It was apparent to me that they were sending me to Sunday School but weren't willing to get up and go with me. That was a big hint.

Mine was Jonah and the Whale when I blurted out "No he didn't." I was removed and never returned to Sunday school. But it was the start of me thinking about the other stuff and my Mom encouraging me to learn more at the library.

And they all moved away from me on the Group W bench.

I think that Lutherans would love and agree with this sign.
common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Good point. He should be wearing a bullet-proof vest made of Bibles instead...

The local Amish in my part of Wisconsin have a diesel pickup truck now. For years they had given up on buggies and were paying for rides from non-Amish drivers. But the change has come, locally. Other nearby communities still use buggies. I would have posted a .jpg but out of respect for their customs -- no photo taken. The color scheme is blackout. Do they know that their non-ostentatious vehicle looks badass?

Wait... Amish, not Mennonites? Doesn't using non-horse-powered vehicles kind of kill your Amish street cred?

To be fair, diesel trucks are quite archaic at this point. Hopefully it'll be only the Amish who use them in the near future.

I did feel a bit Amish while I was still using one of those indestructible Nokia phones about two years ago. Still not sure if I'm better off with a smartphone.

We have Mennonites here also. These are Amish. The narrow roads with steep hills around here aren't very safe for their buggies. Cars travel at high speed. down these roads.

Haven't seen a buggy in town in over twenty years. That's around twenty years of them paying someone else to give them rides. Their new truck is all black, no chrome. The buggies were mandated to have bright orange safety triangles on the back. So the pickup truck is an improvement according to their desired aesthetics.
