Best Local co-op or multiplayer video games for computer
« on: April 08, 2016, 11:43:52 AM »
So I prefer to play games with friends locally.  For the longest time this meant console gaming.  But with a dramatic shift to online play only, emulators have been the only go to place for good multiplayer local play (I love you Super Monkey Ball!)  Of course, I have steam, I like being able to access my game library from any place with a decent computer and internet connection, with my save files in tact.  It's great, but most of the good local play games I've found have been indie games.  So I'm looking for recommendations.  I'll start with a list of the awesome local co-op options I am already aware of. Bonus points if it runs on linux.

BattleBlock Theater
Bionic Commando Rearmed
Broforce
Castle Crashers
Forced
Guacamelee!
ibb & obb
Monaco
Octodad: Dadliest Catch
ROCKETSTOCKETSROCKETS
Screencheat
SpeedRunners
Super Indie Karts
Towerfall
Ultimate Chicken Horse
Worms (debatable which version is best)
I'm just the victim of my cognitive privilege

Lego Star Wars (needs controllers and not Linux friendly)
Pocket tanks (an artillery game from the early 2000s, not sure if it is linuxable)

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.  Fun asymmetrical game, one person trying to disarm a bomb nobody else can see, while the rest give him/her instructions.  Even better with a VR headset.
