SGUWhey Theme Problem
« on: May 09, 2016, 08:22:36 PM »
Has someone been messing around with the themes? I suddenly find that my SGUWhey is all right-justified, which has the effect of a gigantic left margin instead of being centred in my screen. Is it just me? I've tried switching themes to the default (which doesn't seem to be affected) and back, with the same effect.

Technical details - Safari version 9.1 (11601.5.17.1), running on OSX El Capitan verion 10.11.4.

I've done a Clear History, and that did not fix the problem.

Huh. It seems that my problem is bigger than this theme alone. The default theme is set too wide for my screen, and there is no scroll bar. I had to switch back to Whey because the "Post" button was off the side of the screen and I couldn't get to it.

And of course, rebooting the computer has now totally fixed the problem.  ::)

Seriously, there was absolutely no reason to think that rebooting would solve this problem. It was one website only - all my other tabs were working perfectly.

Good thing rebooting is among my defaults when anything goes wrong.

Rebooting fixes MANY MANY things that it shouldn't.

I know, right? It's a good thing that I learned that very early on or I'd still be struggling with this.

Old joke... three engineers trying to drive somewhere and the car won't start, the mechanical engineer wants to check the engine, the electrical engineer wants to check the electrical system, the software engineer wants everybody to get out of the car and then get back in again.

And the more modern the cars are, the less unlikely it is for that to actually solve the problem ;-)

Don't worry about it. I find a good tumble has the same effect on my tech confusion and frustration and a good shake has on an Etch-a-Sketch. Since you tend to tumble, I suspect you're not going to be worried for long. ;)

ETA: I might be interested in that powder, but only if it's 100% ground up bug.* I don't know if I would just eat it, but I'd prolly buy it.

*Today I was reading a big picture book with my daughter - The Big Book of Bugs - and explained how 'bugs' is a term used to refer to a lot of insects and non-insects. If she understood 'superset' it would have gone faster, really. Then I read page 1: BUGS and it tells me that "bug" is a subset of insects with jaw structures that facilitate piercing a covering (skin / bark / carapace / etc) and subsequent sucking of juices. Bedbug has a much more specific meaning than I realized.

Also, "bug" still means anything relatively small and with more than 4 legs. Fuck you children's picture book.
