We should probably not expect a reply from Chew; this was his only post since Forumpocalypse.

That was the last slap in the face I'm going to take. Their "premium" membership is bullshit. I gave them my money and didn't get shit. Good luck on your "lawsuit".

Could you please elucidate? Many of us are baffled. What was the "slap in the face"? Did you perhaps have difficulty downloading the premium version? Or were you upset because the premium version included an ad for membership? (I was a bit baffled by that, since presumably anybody listening to the premium version knows about membership.)

BTW, just speaking for myself, while I enjoy the premium content, I subscribe to the premium version because I like the show itself, and would continue to be a "member" even if all I got was the regular version of the show. I donate because I want the show to continue. I donate to some podcasts that do not give premium content to subscribers.
What way do you access it?

Does anyone know what Chew is talking about?  Did the Rogues do something unconscionable I should know about?  And why the scare quotes around "lawsuit"?

Yeah, I'm curious about that myself... I didn't detect any face slapping in the episode.
The best I could figure was that he was set off by the most recent premium content- a discussion of pseudoscience in politics based on Stein

No, I'm pretty sure Chew is not a Stein supporter.
lol yeah that was my first response too.
It would be nice to see that old grumpy dog around again though.

Forumpocalypse.

Maybe that has something to do with it? Anyway, I guess we may never know.

You mean the SGU? I use iCatcher on my iPod Touch. I think that when I subscribed they gave me a URL to type into my podcatching software. Or maybe it was a password? It's been a long time and I have not thought about it since then and my memory is not all that great. The show appears in the iPod without my doing anything. I have PayPal set up to make my monthly donation so I don't have to think about that either.

Forumpocalypse.

The Forumpocalypse was not any of the Rogues' doing, as was clearly explained at the time.  It was a combination of human error on the part of forum tech staff and error on the part of our previous host.

Forumpocalypse.

I haven't been here in many moons.  What was Forumpocalypse?

Two years ago during a move between servers our database became corrupted and we discovered, to our dismay, that the backups we thought we had in place were...inadequate.  We lost about two years of forum posts when we backed up from an old backup.  Steps have since been taken to establish remote backup procedures, our host has changed, and we've got a much more robust infrastructure.

There have been two during some database change over SNAFU that wiped out the forum. The backups were not up to date at the time(s) and so the forum was reset to something like a year previous, so a lot of posts went into the void.

I'm aware of that, but Chew might not be if he hasn't been here since that time.

Thanks for the Forumapocalype(s) explanations.  That explains why my Placebo Mart and other creation posts vanished; in fact, the whole "Creations" (if I remember right) subforum disappeared.

I think the Anthropocene should start at May 18 1889, the day Thomas Midgley Jr. was born.
