You can make the argument that the first one is satire, albeit, ham-fisted.  The sequels were like the original just stripped of anything clever or funny.

I thought it was an amazing satire. It was like a nihilist morality play. They didn't hammer any dissonance, you just inhabited this full blast propaganda world

Highlander, Jaws and The Matrix.

I've heard True Detective goes on this list.
My possibly controversial candidate would be the rebooted Battlestar Galactica

Definitely both.

True Detectives was brilliant in season 1 and total shit for season 2.

True Detectives is back to being really good. Season 3 so far is brilliant.

Just watch Season 1 & Season 3

Each season is a new cast and new story so you won't miss anything by missing the 2nd season.

Starship Trooper

there's another one?
Yes but be very careful how you proceed from here.
Watching the Starship Trooper sequels has been known to cause dimentia, cramping, permanent despondency, face pain, and stroke.

I just wish there was a GIF to express my desire to know more.

There is a Trilogy but you really need an altered state of consciousness for the other two.
Proceed with extreme caution
Amazon - starship troopers trilogy
Star Ship Troopers 2 was one of the first movies I tried to copy to my harddrive (before watching it). After I sat through it I wondered what the hell they were thinking, and so I listened to the commentary track. They sounded kind of apologetic (kind of like "we really tried, guys"), and kind of mentally exhausted. It gave me a slight sad, mixed with a small chuckle here and there.

I lost interest somewhere in season 2 of Andromeda. Apparently that's when it becomes the "I'm still Hercules" show.

I thought the second Incredibles was at least as good as the first one. Jack-Jack vs the trash panda was great.

Also, Aliens and Terminator 2 rival their anthology's #1s IMHO.

And even though Twin Peaks S1 is by far the best, I love some of the episodes in season 2 and season 3 was at the very least interesting television.

The only one that leaps to mind is Highlander, which has been mentioned before.

It's pretty much the quintessential example, if you ask me. Although it has to be said that the TV series wasn't too terrible.

There was a pretty cool anime sequel that came out around 2008 or so.  It's in the Highlander continuity but is only loosely connected.
I disavow anyone in the movement involved in any illegal, unethical, sexist, or racist behavior. However, I don't have the energy or time to investigate each person and case, and a lack of individual disavowals for each incident should not be construed as condoning such behavior.

There are a lot of folks that think T2 was better than the first.  I don't but I can see the merits.

Also @ Seamus, Star Wars is a terrible example as almost everyone thinks Empire was better. Ok, maybe not everyone one but nobody thinks it was bad.

Also, True Detectives Season 2 was ok, go ahead an watch.  Sure, season one was brilliant and season 2 is thus a let down but its still pretty good.  Season 3 is in between.

Season 3 was brilliant television. Season 2 was a huge let down, not Just because it had to follow Season 1 which was amongst the best TV that has ever been produced, but because it was ordinary.

I'd rate them S1: 10/10, S2: 5/10, S3 10/10

Of course these are personal opinions
