I am skeptical of the claim that "Plan 9 From Outer Space" features a man in an ape suit wearing a diving helmet. That would be "Robot Monster."
I'm pretty sure you're right.  Regardless, IX is a superior name.
Ix is ford prefects real name.

I avoid using email as much as possible. I use Facebook to keep in touch.
Do you just prefer the UI or is there a specific reason?

That's a good question, and I don't have a good answer. It's not just the UI.

I use Facebook to keep in touch with my family as well. Not for any other reason than that is where they all are.

Yeah, for me it's an active dislike of email.

I've said before that Facebook creeps me out. But in addition to that, I cannot make sense of it. Occasionally I've been directed there by a link. The structure/organization of the site seems like a complete mish-mash.

If any of my friends or family use it, I'm not aware of it. I once got an email from Linkedin telling me I should join because a cousin of mine was on it. But I've never had any indication from anyone that anyone I actually know personally is on Facebook. The vegetable farm where I used to get fresh veggies (before they retired) had a Facebook page that listed what veggies were available each day, but that's it.

Facebook is ok if you use it sparingly. I visit once a day.
I only accept Friend requests from family or friends close enough to be family.
It's a way of seeing all the babies in the family as they grow and keeping up with the news. Instead of seeing some of them only once or twice a year.
A picture can be worth a thousand words.

If you learn to use the "Hide" option for games, annoying sites people like to link to, etc it becomes a nicer place to visit.

I find it strange people who have hundred of "Friends", including people they barely know or in some cases don't know.

So basically it is as nice, or as annoying as you choose to make it.

Liberal use of the "Hide All From" function is what keeps Facebook flowing.  :)

ETA: As a secondary thing, I mean.  Got some friend who keeps posting Chive bullshit all day?  Hide all from Chive, keep the friend.  Repeat.  Any picture or repost or share or whatever that hits my feed that I don't like, I Hide All From (source).  I've ended up with a Facebook feed almost free of the various buzzfeeds and sharing apps.  All I get is photos and statuses, ie. what Facebook is for.

So I was going to listen to a specific pod from a few years ago but had the SoF still to go from this episode on my player so I wanted to finish that...I did and the Quote of the Week was Vera Rubin. Very apt considering she was the subject of the show I was about to listen too. Really, really sad (trying not to think of the comments after the quote too). RIP Vera. :(

Interestingly steve corn is multicolored. Purple corn is old yellow is no older than purple cultivars. Doesn't mean anything. Even the food coler thing is pretty shaky ground. A purple red or yellow peper pretty much are identical with regards to nutrition.
