Getting Frozen?
« on: August 30, 2007, 01:52:25 pm »
I was interviewed today for a piece on cryonics and the writer is interested in talking to someone who plans to either
- get frozen
- have their body mummified after death
- or donate their body to science or to a museum

So if anyone fits this and wants to be involved you can either send me an e-mail, or contact the reporter directly. She is especially interested in interviewing someone who might (yes I know this is morbid) be meeting their end within the next two years. Apparently they want to film the actual process of being frozen or being mummified.

Here's the contact:

I always fancied being incorporated in that German guy's exhibition on death. Hopefully not in the next two years though...

Yeah, me too.  I'm all for giving my remains to science, but if i can give them to art/science, that's even better!
The best debates are the ones in which I'm proven wrong.  Then I've learned something.

I'm planning on being composted, after as much of my organs as is useful is harvested.

Presumably she got Jay's contact info, although let's hope Jay's "plan" doesn't come to fruition for another 80-90 years (or longer!).

I want to be buried, and turn into a tree, then have that tree cut down viciously and have the pulp used to print a bible on.

That'll teach me for being a scum sucking atheist.

It isn't even his joke, I've heard the whole atheist tree bible thing way before that ass clown ever hit the stage.

khm, parodn me for breaking up your ass-tree-clown party.

But would the tree not mostly grow out of the CO2 present in the atmospehere and your body only accounting for some miniscule amount of minerals and a bit of nitrogen in it's make-up?

Wouldn't you basically just get eaten up by worms?

And besides... where would the ink for the bible come from. I mean blank pages of paper ... sure... but the INK is where the REAL message is at.

now that's a joke buzzkill if I ever saw one :D

Another example of joke explaining making it all the more hilarious:

Part of the joke I made was the absolute absurdity in thinking that one would "turn into" a tree upon death because one is burried under the spot where a tree later grows.

It shows a complete misunderstanding of not only atheism but of biology.  Unless you are an Atheist who is really into Orson Scott Card I suppose.

Me thinks Perry would have laughed at this one:

A bird feeder made from bird food and human ash. The person is reincarnated through the life of the bird.

Hmm... I live in Minnesota so if my death happens in the next two years it will likely be due to freezing.

I have contacts in the medical field- I'll pass the word on and see if they have any candidates they can think of.
