Probably a bit controversial, but hey:

Bladerunner
Shawshank Redemption (well, its OK, but I think the Green Mile is better)
Its a Wonderful Life
Terminator
Hidden Tiger Crouching Dragon
Just about all the Bond films

It's a Wonderful Life is a crime against film. Gawddddd.

Seriously?  Let me guess: you don't like Casablanca either.

I really didn't care for it.

Though perhaps I watched it when I was too young to "get" it- I just remember being really, really bored when I watched it in high school.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Full Monty
Lars and the Real Girl
Blazing Saddles
The Fall
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Hot Fuzz
Shaun of the Dead
To Kill a Mockingbird
Sense and Sensibility (the Emma Thompson one)
Mary and Max

And I totally get if these all seem terrible to most folks. I've never been one who is said to have good taste.

Personally I quite liked Casablanca but not Its a Wonderful Life. Are they that similar then? It may be something to do with the feeling that you are "supposed" to love Its a Wonderful Life otherwise you are a heartless evil person.

Everybody seems to love Fight Club but I did not like it.
I don't think there is a lot of love here but I just don't get people likely the Transformers movies.

To be fair, like with Saw, the first Transformers movie was much better than all the sequels.

Choice between a Vegemite sandwich and just a shit sandwich?
Serious, one and two were watchable but the characters were basically horrible.
Three and four were virtually unwatchable.
So I guess my argument of the sandwiches holds.  ;D

I only watched the first one, thought it was way too much of a human and teenage love story for a movie about space traveling robots.

Star Wars, not really good but man do folks really love it.  I'm sSeriously, the dialogue is weak, the acting is wooden, and the plot is simplistic, intentionally so.

The Big Lebowski, pretty good but man folks really love it.

2001, snooze fest.  Really only have half a movie, the picture part but lacking much else and soooooo long.
I agree. Im glad Star Wars is popular though because I like the recent ones and the stuff its inspired has been great. I feel the same way about Tolkiens books actually.

Also agree with this. Terminators 1+2 are great but really ought to be left at that.

Its a Wonderful Life was not at all popular when it came out. I think comparing it to Casablanca is a bit of a mismatch. The former only got big because people developed affection for it having seen it every xmas on tv. Far be it from me to tell people they ought not to like a thing but the love for it as a film in its own right seems disproportionate to how good it is.
In general, I find many classic movies hard to enjoy though. I believe the SGU did a piecebefore on how the tempo of film making has changed and so a film has to have some pretty grabbing themes and execution to help me enjoy (as opposed to just appreciate) it.

Your wrong about Bladerunner and Shawshank but the I agree with the rest.  They're all fair to midling but folks love them out of proportion to the quality.

Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Fish Called Wanda for starters.  I have tried re-watching them 10-20 years later to see if it was just a mood I was in, but I still think they're all crap.

A zombie superhero movie, you say? We'll get right on it.

What's Wesley Snipes up to these days?

I hated the first few minutes of it's a wonderful life so much I rage quite. The dated race notions and mostly when that one guy comes up to the guy and does that weird thing with his hands and ears saying "waka waka waka" or something. Instantly my fist got hate boner and have never wanted to hit someone so much. I've never got past that point and have no desire ever watch it. I'm positive scrudged is a far better version of that story.

This thread is just proof that no one under forty has any taste in movies.
