Sorry to see you go Anders (you are probably gone by the time I saw this?), Best of luck with your health issues and your cats and hopefully this move will be a good one for you but I hope to see you again.

Question- What is the effect of a mod deactivating an account vs me deleting my own account? I presume Anders is trying to avoid the temptation to peek somehow?

As far as I know, you can't delete your own account. And yeah, we usually get asked to deactivate by people who don't trust themselves not to log in. Others just walk away.

There are... other ways to get your account deactivated.

Yes, but they're in poor taste.

I am a conservative, I am a skeptic and an atheist, but I don't understand the reason for leaving. Being a registered republican doesn't define me. My actions and decisions are what define me. I don't 100% agree or disagree with either party but any insult or negative observation of "my" party is in no way reflecting who I am. Skeptics should be cognizant of tribalism and resist its sinful temptations.

We haven't interacted much, but I've read some of your posts over the past few years, and I'm sorry to see you go. I'm also sorry that you've apparently felt unwelcome.

I would say you should probably shop around and then see if you want to come back.
