Are SGU listener geographic locations available?
« on: April 29, 2017, 11:10:25 AM »
In one SGU episode maybe a year ago or a year and a half ago or so, Steve spoke a little about listener statistics. From what I remember, there were roughly 150 000 downloads of every new episode. About 55% of the listeners were in the USA. Other English-speaking countries were behind the USA. But I'm not sure every other English-speaking country was, I don't think Ireland was (but I'm not sure). The non-English-speaking countries with the most listeners was Sweden.

I wonder, are there any more detailed statistics about the geographic locations of SGU listeners/downloads and other demographics available?

I'd love to see a world heatmap of weekly downloads.

My VPN says that I'm clearly in Northeastern Canada.

No, it doesn't. ;)

If you are listening to the SGU in Saudi Arabia, it might be unhealthy for it to be found out.

Too bad then that the SGU has not made more of this information public. :(

Why should they?

It would be interesting data.

If you are listening to the SGU in Saudi Arabia, it might be unhealthy for it to be found out.

According to this, the SGU site at least has visitors located in Saudi Arabia. But these might as well be Westerners located there rather than native Saudis.

The dots are pretty much where you'd expect them to be: Heavily concentrated in North America and Europe, sparser elsewhere in the world.

That's not a sufficiently compelling reason.
