Can someone help me find an episode?
« on: May 03, 2017, 05:16:33 PM »
I'm trying to track down an episode where a particular topic was discussed. I'm sure this was in the last year; last two years at most.

The topic was an experiment where subjects were given three numbers and asked to produce three new numbers that followed the same rule from which the original numbers were derived. As I recall, the numbers were 2, 4, 6, and most test subjects insisted that the rule being followed was something like "three even numbers in sequence", so they would produce new numbers like "8, 10, 12".

The example might have been a little different: 2, 4, 8, and subjects thought the rule was to double the previous number.

Either  way, the actual rule being applied was simply "any numbers in ascending order."

So, I'd like to find the episode where this was discussed. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Might've been episode 522.

The transcript has them talking about a logic puzzle involving three numbers, and having to figure the sequence.
