If global warming is real then how come I just felt this chill down my spine?

At the point where they're recording the messages, is that not a crime? Or is it a loophole by pretending that it's different from recording phone conversations without consent?

I’m fairly certain there’s a clickwrap agreement you have to sign to enable Alexa.  I would be amazed if it doesn’t clearly give them authorization for such activities.

Fuck Amazon.

They suspect but how would they really know. Maybe the TV is too loud. Maybe the people are acting. Maybe the people are consenting. Maybe there is a real assault. There is no way of knowing. Unless the assaulted party asks to call the cops there really isn't anything they can do.

And then presumably the people who signed those agreements make sure to put signs up on all entryways, explaining to visitors that everything they say may be recorded by Amazon employees to share with anyone else for a laugh.

The only conversations that they are listening to are what you say after “Alexa,” and the immediate back and forth with the device. There is an entirely different system that listens for the activation word then activates Alexa.

I know many people who are sure that their phones are always listening to them.  I tried and tried to get my phone to show some evidence of this.  Not only did I never get any confirmation, even when I want my phone to listen to me it often gets the answers completely wrong.  Siri is often an idiot.
I don't understand some things, but at least I know I don't know

The same holds true for Siri. There’s a simple algorithm listening fo “hey Siri” that triggers the launch of the full memory, energy and processor intensive application.
