... in war the screams are loud and harsh and in peace the wail is so drawn-out we tell ourselves we hear nothing.

Sounds like a great development in water-splitting:

But NOT an energy source.  Thecatalyst is consumed, and it requires more energy to produce it than is released in the reaction. It might make a good energy storage medium for fuel cells, depending on the numbers.  Interesting that the energy is stored as galvanic potential, though...

Sounds like a great development in water-splitting:

Quote
"In our case, it does not need a catalyst," Giri said. "Also, it is very fast. For example, we have calculated that one kilogram of aluminum powder can produce 220 kilowatts of energy in just three minutes."
Quote
That metric doubles if you consider the amount of heat energy produced by the exothermic reaction, he said.
There are other researchers who have been searching their whole lives and their optimized product takes many hours to achieve, say 50 percent efficiency," Grendahl said. "Ours does it to nearly 100 percent efficiency in less than three minutes."
What a bad article :/

Not disagreeing but wondering where you got that it took more energy to produce the catalyst than the reaction released.
