Strange food combinations you really like?
« on: August 30, 2017, 01:10:34 AM »
I am curious what kind of food combinations you really like that everybody else around you consider disgusting?

For example, I put mayonnaise and onions on hot dogs.

My snack is whatever spreads or sauces I can put on a tortilla. Tonight was peanut butter, cream cheese, and Buffalo sauce. Yes, my wife thinks it's disgusting
It's always more complicated than that.

When I wasn't a kid, my sister started eating strawberries dipped in ketchup. Because "they matched."

Peanut butter, mayonnaise, and lettuce sandwich.

Amend and resubmit.

My wife thinks salt on watermelon is weird, but that was pretty common in Iowa when I was a kid.

I put peanut butter in ramen. Not so weird though when you think that it just creates a peanut sauce.

When I was younger, for gatherings, etc, my mother made a dipping sauce for cocktail franks. She would have it heated in this small pot on a sterno or something. I loved it, it was tangy sweet and also savory.

The recipe: Equal parts ketchup and grape jelly.  :-[

I was raised in the '70s but my upbringing was very '50s in some ways. ^ That recipe is so totally from some 1950s  magazine or cookbook.

I don't think this is strange, but my wife does. Peanut butter and maple syrup.

My wife hates that I'll put my homemade kimchee in scrambled eggs.

Oh, how about a plate with a squiggly line of horseradish sauce (the mayo-like stuff), and a line of spicy mustard...on top of those lines goes Chicken Sausages cooked in beer and covered in hot (put in with the sausages at the end just to heat it up) Lemon and Dill Sauerkraut (homemade).  There's so many LOUD flavors on this plate it'll knock your dick in the dirt.

There's a hot sauce for everything.

Edit: Probably the weirdest is oatmeal with lemon juice and Frank's Red Hot.  Use whole oats and overcook it so the texture's less 'oatmeal' and more 'cereal sponge.'  I swear, I could cube these things and stick them on tooth picks.

Edit:
I put peanut butter in ramen. Not so weird though when you think that it just creates a peanut sauce.

Weirdest ramen combination I've tried is: [Chicken Ramen] + [Fried Egg] + [Maple Syrup, the real kind].  It was good!

Ever since I was a very small kid, I have enjoyed peanut butter and Vegemite sandwiches.
