You've clearly never played GTA.

Sure, they could focus less on microtransactions, but you are being incredibly disingenuous by railing at them that they didn't "fix" GTA Online after the huge amount of content they've been putting out since lauch. Free content, by the way.
The content isn't free. You might think it is, but you're wrong. Allow me to enlighten you about how this works.
Firstly, R* is a for-profit company. It's not a handful of passionate guys like EL argues Hello Games is, R* is a behemoth with hundreds of employees run by a boardroom full of suits. Everything they do is motivated by one thing and one thing only, the bottom line. The only reason they put out free updates (rather than paid DLC) is because they believe it will make them more money in the end. They're not wrong about that. No DLC is ever purchased by 100% of the player base, which means every DLC would split the community into groups that couldn't play with each other due to not owning the same content. Fracturing the player base like that kills any online game very quickly, so R* is very wise not to do that.
This 'free' content is monetized and made profitable with Shark Cards, which allow you to purchase in-game currency with real money. Why do you think R* releases increasingly expensive vehicles in each update without giving players the ability to earn currency in correspondingly more efficient ways? They're testing how much they can tighten the screws, how much money they can squeeze out of their players.
It's working to the tune of half a billion dollars. Now you might be thinking that if you just earn the currency instead of buying it, the content really is free for you. It's not. You're still paying for it, with your time. GTAO is an online multi-player game. Sure it gets updated with new vehicles and things, but what really keeps people coming back is other people. Interacting with other players is what makes the game fun. By playing the game to earn currency to get the 'free' content, which takes a very long time, you yourself
are content for other players. GTAO operates like a free-to-play game despite costing $60. If you're a whale, you pay for the game with money. If you're a minnow, you pay by being content for the whales.
There is no such thing as 'free', you always end up paying in one way or another that ultimately profits the provider of the 'free' stuff. Youtubers don't upload free videos out of the kindness of their hearts, they they do it because they make money by selling their viewers' eyeballs to advertisers. R* doesn't provide free updates out of the kindness of its heart, it does it because it makes money by selling the minnows' time to whales. You may be entirely okay with paying that price, but that doesn't change the fact that you are paying a price. It also doesn't change the fact that R* isn't doing it for you, it's doing it for itself.
You need to stop hatesturbating on reddit and start actually playing the games.
You need to stop making assumptions about things you know nothing about and start actually thinking critically about the games you play.
