Amazon Account Closed?
« on: May 18, 2018, 03:49:00 AM »
I have used Amazon for years.

Tried to order something and when I looked in, gave the message
"There was a problem
We cannot find an account with that email address"

I can still order stuff on my phone though.

Talked to customer service three times and they keep promising somebody will get back to me. Been a problem for probably over a month now.

It appears to be a pretty widespread problem

Also read on Reddit complaints about the problem.

Tempted to just open a new account but I would lose a few items such as handful of eBooks and a few albums I bought.
I also don't know what I would need to do to switch my kindle to a new account.

Anybody else have this problem?

I just heard that amazon was closing accounts with too many returns.  Could that be the issue?

Never returns a thing to Amazon. I ordered a digital movie t dvd quality but cancelled it to order it at dvd quality?
Does that count?

They were talking about significant numbers of returns, so no.  Hope you get this figured out.

Gross. That sort of narrows down what you can and can't do. It sounds like it is an Amazon side problem and if they can't figure it out you won't be able to as well; unless you dissect their code and do their debugging for them. If you end up fixing the problem doing the later DEMAND MONEY! :P Sorry mate but keep trying or move on with setting up a new account.

Good Luck.

I've been burned too many times on Ebay, mostly due to something being lost in translation in either the ad or the questions I ask about the product haha. Walmart is trying to build themselves up to an Amazon status. That could be a "safer" alternative to Ebay as well, depending on what you are getting.

I have gotten some cheap stuff that I did not consider worth making a claim with eBay.
Otherwise, I have had pretty good luck. There is an art / skill to know what you are buying.
For example, I would never buy a flash drive from eBay and hard drives I would also be careful.
You can look at ratings of selling and tell a bit about them. You look at their ratings, what they are selling, and their style.
For example, somebody who appears to restore computers would probably be alright to buy a used laptop.

I was given an Amazon gift card so I went with the flow and just created a new Amazon account.
