Not my creations, but my daughter's.  I am most proud of her work tho.  So far she has cranked out 3.  This was her first completed attempt.

Also, that's really nice work!  What are the paillettes made of?

Brushed Aluminum.  It is often used for building mail armor.

Do  you have to get them in bulk, I feel like that would take a whole heck of a lot to make a Hauberk or something like that.

Also really nice needle work, and a perfect application for crochet. I learned to knit first and now I'm a two-needle snob, but finsihing pieces would be so much easier if I picked up a hook.

It was like $5 for 200, and they come in different sizes as well.  I have no idea about the other part, so I will nod, smile,  and grunt vague assents.

*ahem*

[nerd mode=historical_armour]
A full hauberk of these kind of scales would be monumentally impractical. Historically, such scale armour (like the Roman lorica squamata) was torso-only and made from considerably larger scales. There are some larger examples of Byzantine and Eastern European armour, but again they're not made from scales of this size. I have a friend who has used these scales for vambraces, which look fantastic, and yes, she's also made dice bags too. :)

OK, nerd! It's been a couple of years since I've been to a RenFaire and discussed arms and armor with other nerds, I'm just happy I pulled the term hauberk out of my head at all, and to be honest I was imagining that roman style in my head when it came to me. I had to google it now to see what I was actually talking about.

Just let her know that she has an admirer of her work, I no longer have dice to put in bags, but if I did, I would covet one.

I have dice, and I don't have a good bag to carry them about in. Most of the time I'm gaming at my own house anyway.
