When I got my flu vaccination, and asked my Dr. about vaccinations for Shingles and Pneumonia. He said he doesn't recommend them until people are in their 70s.

What's up with that? When I was younger I had a few bouts with pneumonia, and I know people my age and younger who have contracted shingles.

... and Donald Trump is president of the United States

Is your doctor an old-school guy?  CDC has been recommending Shingles vaccine for 50+ for at least 10 years when I got mine.  The new version which is so much better they're recommending to get another one but no one has stock.

I don't know about pneumonia, but DW gets the shot for weakened immune.
Amend and resubmit.

Yes, I think you should.  The shingles suck.

It sucks, big time.  I had it on the upper right quadrant of my head.  Just thinking about it makes my face hurt.

I've never had it, but my father, grandfather, and uncle all did, generally on their backs. I remember my father, who was one of the toughest people I even knew, whimpering in pain from it.

I thought it was only in your legs

No, the shingles can occur anywhere on the body, most frequently on the back.  It follows nerves because varicella lies dormant in nerve cells, and it can be especially dangerous if it occurs on the face because it can spread to the ocular nerve and cause blindness.

Yep, I had to go to an ophthalmologist and get checked out.  I started taking anti-virals & prednisone right away, so I ended up with a relatively minor case.  My father-in-law had it, so when it happened to me, I knew right away what it was.

In Ontario, it's a part of the questionnaire you fill out before you get your flu vaccine. "Have you had theses and are you over 50?" Being over 50 I asked if I should get it. The pharmacist said "yes but you need to wait 3 months after your flu vaccine".

For the last few years in Ontario, pharmacists have been giving routine adult vaccines. I makes it super easy. The first year they did it, I don't think a lot of them had good needle techniques. It hurt. But these days they're pros.

I’m surprised you had to wait after your flu shot.  I had my pneumococcal at the same time I had my flu shot.

I had to pay out of pocket for a pneumonia vaccine a few years ago.  I had just quit my job to go off and fight a war on testicles (or the cancer therein) so had dropped from my coverage to medicaid/obamacare.  My oncologist wanted me to get a pneumonia vaccine since it was month out till I started chemo and she wanted me as good as I could get before that shit started.  Medicaid wouldn't pay for the vaccine because I wasn't old enough.  I think it wanted me to be older than 65 in order to pay for it.  It was like a $90 shot.

I think my insurance now pays for it, but I didn't even ask.  It paid for my flu shot, it's the only one I asked about.
