Graphene. Where the hell is it?
« on: November 22, 2018, 04:04:47 PM »

It seems like forever we've been hearing about this wonder material. I'm sure I've heard about it being hyped on the SGU a couple of times. Yet I'm not seeing it in everyday products. So what happened?

Is it just a case of 5 more years.... or is the material actually not practical for everyday products.

Is graphene our generations hoverboards....

It is being produced and used in many industries. Until recently it has been hideously expensive to produce.

According to this thing from Verge Science "it's just not better-enough yet." Probably not the whole story, but a start.

I'm adding glassy metal to this list of things.
I disavow anyone in the movement involved in any illegal, unethical, sexist, or racist behavior. However, I don't have the energy or time to investigate each person and case, and a lack of individual disavowals for each incident should not be construed as condoning such behavior.
