First Person recommendation
« on: March 26, 2020, 11:35:45 AM »
I would like to read a Science Fiction short story or novella written in first person present tense.

Are there any recommendations. If its a really good novel, I can give it a go.

I have a short story in mind that I wish to write in this POV and I want to get an idea of how other writers handle it.

So, First Person Present Tense POV recommendations.

I actually can't think of one.  The book I'm reading now is third person present tense, and it was pretty distracting until I got used to it.

Fifteen years ago I probably would have been able to name half a dozen but it's been so long since I've read much fiction.

I don't read much science fiction, but one first-person narrative that occurs me can easily be recognized by this currently relevant quote:
"—dead!—slain by the putrefactive and disease bacteria against which their systems were unprepared; slain as the red weed was being slain; slain, after all man’s devices had failed, by the humblest things that God, in his wisdom, has put upon this earth. "

There was one that began like this:

From down the line, well out of sight of my position in the dense forest, I heard a scream.

"They're eating me!!!!"

Then silence. I wonder if he, whoever he was, owed me money.

Lost that book in a car fire and never found it again.
