One of the comments on the WP article paraphrases Robert G. Ingersoll, a proto-skeptic of some note:

Fear paints pictures of deamons and hangs them in the gallery of ignorance.

Hey Rogues, just wanted to let you know that we've got a newbie here from the Paranormal State forums that claims he's an exorcist.  He's agreed to set up a test of his specific claims.  You can find it here.

I went to Catholic school growing up, and in grade nine I insisted on doing my religion project on exorcism (I guess I was a little **** disturber even then).  I went as far as interviewing the priest at our local church, who seemed very uncomfortable discussing it (he was one of those post-hippie-Jesus-freak types who mostly just wanted to play acoustic guitar). He kept trying to convince me it wasn't anything the church did anymore, but it seems the practice has come back into vogue.

Yeah. Problem is both you and I come from the Canadian version of catholicism. I've always felt being a Canadian catholic, a belief in Jesus was actually an optional part of the faith. It's pretty damn liberal. Tho, things might have changed.
