Title: Rock band II
Post by: Leslie 417 on November 03, 2008, 10:29:15 PM
OK I know I'm a little bias here but why couldn't they have come up with a little bit better/more Canadian artists for the Canadian leg of the rock band tour????

Neil young?
Headstones?
Tragically hip?
Jeff Healey?

I mean come on people! we have more to offer than Alanis Morsette!

In the first Rock Band they had a New Pornographers song. They're a pretty excellent Canadian super-group.

In what world is New Pornographers a super group?
Unless my friends watched Rita and friends growing up most of them had never even heard of New Pornographers.

And You outta know??

If they wanted a token female band they could have stuck in Kitty.

Um.. a world that uses the definitions of words to give them meaning?

Quote from: Wikipedia - Supergroup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supergroup_(music))
In the late 1960s, the term supergroup was coined to describe "a rock music group whose performers are already famous from having performed individually or in other groups.

Quote from: Wikipedia - The New Pornographers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_pornographers)
The New Pornographers is a Canadian indie rock supergroup formed in 1997 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Their sound is highly influenced by such power pop bands as The Cars and Cheap Trick.

AC Newman + Dan Bejar + Neko Case + Katheryn Calder = Super group.

Wow. That was painful. That sounded like Evanensence if Evanesence could suck just a little harder (a tough feat, I guess I should congratulate Kitty!)

Honestly though, regardless of what I think of the music, those are the kind of songs I hate playing on rock band. The guitar is probably really really fast and then small gap and then really really fast, and the drumming sounded like it was terribly erratic and constant.

This from the guy who was excited they included you Oughta know.  :)

& You can not call a group a super group unless the members have been part of popular or successful bands. Apart from Kurt Dahle (And even him) I bet the majority of the world wouldn't have even heard of any of the artists.

Actually I saw New Pornographers this summer, they would have been really good but volume on everything was pinned and it made the show hard to listen to.

I like You Oughta Know for the nostalgia factor. It was the first CD I ever owned (when I was 12) and so it has always held a place for me.

Plus did you know that song was written about the end of her relationship with Dave Coulier!

I can't imagine such a lovable clown as Joey Gladstone inspiring that kind of rage in anyone.

That's like everything that was terrible about the 80s (ie most everything) encapsulated in one video.  Amazing.

Yea it was.

The 80's did have some good metal though.

Good metal transcends decades and, thus, is not part of the 80s.

Good point. What year did motorhead get big? They were always big... but that might have more to do with Lemmie being god.

I finally unlocked the new Guns n Roses song.. wow, that shit sucks. It was kind of fun to play (all but the solo, which I just did terribly at) but the sound was just plain silly.

I'm not that far yet.... I'm dreading E-Pro as I really like the song & think I know all the words... but I thought the same thing about run to the hills.....

Chazz: Who'd win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God?
Chris Moore: Lemmy.
[Rex imitates a game show buzzer]
Chris Moore: ... God?
Rex: Wrong, dickhead, trick question. Lemmy *IS* God.

E-Pro isn't hard. If you're doing vocals I think it's even easier because they are all sung in the same tone. So if you find it you can just go Uhhh uh uh uhhh uhh uhhh. As long as you kind of know the beat, you're set.

There are instructions in the game box to register for the code. You give them an email address and then they email you the code.

These are the instructions I was emailed:

"In order to redeem your code, please follow the instructions for your console (Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3). Please note that your download code will only work for the brand of console for which you purchased and registered Rock Band 2:

   1.

Xbox 360 users: go to Xbox Live Marketplace and select the Redeem Code option. Enter the code presented above to download your tracks.
   2.

PlayStation 3 users: select the PLAYSTATION Network option on the XMB (Xross Media Bar). Select the Account Management option, then select Redeem Codes. Enter the code presented above to download your tracks.

If you have any questions, please check out the Game Registration FAQ page at http://register.rockband.com/faq.html.

Thanks,"

(Those instructions are only valid once you've registered using the instructions in the box, and have received your code.)

Teenage Riot
Visions
Shoulder to the Plow
Panic Attack

Only songs I can't beat on Expert drums, so the ESL will have to wait...

Anyone want to do Band Quickplay sometime?
