Title: Volunteers Needed 2009-2010
Post by: Jay on October 07, 2009, 11:05:27 PM
The SGU needs the help of web programmers (.net / flash) and graphic artists.  We have several projects in the cue.  If you have the skills and the time please leave me a note here or email me from the website.

If you know how to write Grant applications let me know.

Thanks!

I can maybe help with graphic arts. I'm in school right now, and it's pretty hectic, so I probably wouldn't be able to do much until 2010.

I lean more towards illustration type work, though, so my skill set might not be what you need. Lemme know more if you think I could be of use.

I may be able to help with graphics, though I lean more towards diagrams like you'd see in textbooks rather than abstract art like the banner to the forums.

Also, I have experience writing grants (for NASA).

Edit: Forgot to specify ... I know Photoshop very well.  Not so much Illustrator.  I've also done a fair amount of HTML (12 years strong) and Java.

All of my .NET work has been in compiled .exe applications and .dll's.  I've not done any web applications.  I currently work in automated OCR/ICR technologies for paper to storage data capture.

I have no graphics experience.  But if you need grunt or data structure work, let me know.

not much experience with .net, but I've been doing web design since 94, coldfusion and php since 2000, and have been using photoshop since the first release back when I was in high school (freshman I think).  I think I started using illustrator and freehand back in 94 or 95.  I have many many years of experience in fine arts, graphic art,  and communications art.

I write software for a living, with a little bit of project management tossed in to keep things organized.  and I'm starting to dabble in iPhone app writing.

Hi

Just throwing my hat into the ring if it's any use.

I'm a full-time software developer, particular focus on web applications, so know database stuff, php and front-end technologies (html, javascript etc).

I could give a couple of hours a week possibly, if it's of any use.

Hello all!  I can program in many languages and can photoshop like the dickens.  Do you capitalize 'photoshop' if it is being used as a verb?  What's the rule there?

Anyway, I'd like to hear more about the tasks that you guys have lined up.

Hi,
I am an artist, video game art director and can do pretty good illustrations and some graphic design. I was the artist who meet with the Rogues at the SGU TAM dinner with Alyssa Clark, the woman making the Zombie film- I was the one who put the SGU in my game A Vampire Story. Just email me at billt@amegames.com or call 707 364-8815 and I'll do my best to help.

I'd be happy to help out also. I'm a self-employed graphic and web designer. I don't have any .net experience, but I'm very experienced with xhtml, css, photoshop, indesign, flash, illustrator and more. Typically I develop sites using the ExpressionEngine content management system, but I'm open to working with other things as well.

I am a graphic designer that specializes in technical illustration, logo design, and especially motion graphics. No portfolio up yet as I am working on a minor in Chem and Bio, but I have plenty of time to help out as necessary. I've actually been looking for a way to use my skills for good.

If you have any video projects I am very capable of editing, processing, and adding any graphics as needed to assist in the presentation.

If you are interested I will get some past work together and post it online.

I'd be happy to volunteer my time and services.

I am a 3D artist, with skills primarily in 3D Studio Max and photoshop.  To a lesser extent I do some work in flash and video compositing as more of a hobby. (Sorry I'm no use for scripting or programming).   My degree is in animation, and could also manage 2D animation if necessary.

Cheers =)

Wow, lots of expertise on offer already.

The challenge will be to work collaboratively so that the load is shared.

I am the technical director (part owner) of a software development company.

Although I have UI design and programming expertise, I think testing and usability might be useful thing to offer. Oh, and my company develops and sells online analysis/data presentation software, so could hook you up with automatic graphing or stats assuming load was not too heavy.

Would like to offer more, but 'spare' time is very precious thing for me right now.

I am in my final Year at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and would like to offer to help out in any way that I am can. Spare time I have in abundance, as I was laid off several months ago. I have mostly Photoshop and Illustrator Experience, with a little bit of web design on the side.

Jay, I'd like to be added to the list of helpers. I'm a graphic designer with mad Photoshop and Illustrator skills. Not much web experience since I work mostly in print, but I need to learn web stuff anyway, so it'd be a good opportunity for me. I've got Creative Suite 4 on my Mac, so anything I can do, I can do. The lines of C# I've written could literally be strung together to circle the world three times (if given a really large font size, and the circle was drawn somewhere down near the south pole).

I've programmed and occasionally lectured IT/Programming for over 10 years and focus mainly on the Microsoft platform, and I'm happy to help out.

I have over 10 years experience developing website and web applications. I am proficient in PHP, Coldfusion, HTML, Javascript, CSS, jquery, and SQL. I've created and managed several blogs using Wordpress. Also have several years experience with Flash (as2) and I've been creating dynamic AS3 applications for quite awhile now. I'd like to volunteer my time for graphics, web design, front-end web development (html, css, jquery), and motion graphics, although I have experience with flash animation and 3d modeling. I'm also familiar with Wordpress theming. For examples, my current site is located here:

http://www.chrismonaccio.com (http://www.chrismonaccio.com)

I'm in the process of an extensive redesign currently, a preview can be found here:

hello, I'm 27, a multimedia designer with 10 years experience. Nowadays my focus is in developing web applications in flash as3.  I also worked for a long time deploying streaming technologies, such as Windows Media Server for adult websites (www.sexyclube.com.br (http://www.sexyclube.com.br)) and am I sucker for neuroscience :)

Here are some of the work I've developed in the last 6 Months. Sorry they are in Portuguese, I live in São Paulo.

ARG game experience for Itau Cultural to promote a game exhibition . The game followed a story about a group of friends trying to solve a mystery.

Developed a Registration/Login system in Flash/PHP/MySQL.  Besides the website (now offline), I've also made 4 games (Top Down Car Driving, Reverse Tetris, Platform Elevator Action Style, and Maze game).
(0:55, gameplay video)
Em Busca do Game Perfeito - TRAILER (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5PcKs9ScXs#normal)>

Right now i'm finishing some Nike hotsites, one is already up, the other is still in development. Developed the navigation "feel" according to client specs. Toy around with 3D animation also (click on filters on top right)
(Click/Drag to navigate, use mouse scroll to zoom in/out, click on triangle arrows to open image on each item)
http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/sportswear/pt_BR/colecao?country=BR&lang_locale=pt_BR&blog=pt_BR (http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/sportswear/pt_BR/colecao?country=BR&lang_locale=pt_BR&blog=pt_BR)

The second flash features uses feeds from both Nikes databases and Youtube gdata, to 'gather' content and present in a unified enviroment.

I've always been a single unit, and am very interested in learning how to work collaboratively with other developers in a version control enviroment (Sub/Mercurial/Git). I think this would be a great opportunity for me to mature in this area doing something I truly love (promoting skepticism and critical thinking)

Such as logos, vignettes bla bla bla you name it with corresponding sound-design.

Keep the fantastic work up, skepticos!
