The fountain of youth miracle pills all over again. Can someone point me to some science based articles on this new age immortal pill (snake oil) so I can start my skeptical engine?   http://explore.truniagen.com/

The Barrier Peaks module was a lot of fun. It did stray from D&D because you were exploring a crashed ship instead of a cave or dungeon.

My impression of NECSS(been to two, but not in a few years) is that it's highly volunteer run with just a few people managing it. I doubt the have a staff that exists outside the time it takes to prepare for that years event. Would probably take a member of the SGU to make the call.

Yes, it's organized by the New England Skeptics and New York City Skeptics.  Presumably the committee meets regularly during the "off-season"; it takes time to plan an event of that size and scope.  My guess, Quetz, is that whoever manages that YouTube channel hasn't gotten around to responding to Christopher Brown's request to remove the video.
The NECSS removed the video.

He never got back to me then all his accounts were deleted.

As a small pedantic aside (this is a skeptic forum after all). The accounts could just have been made non-public.   They might pop up again in the future.
I think you are correct.

I’m not dickering. I am thinking that he will build some kind of defense and sue for deformation of character or he will leave the country and settle down somewhere else.

I met him in 2009 and I have worked with on and off for the past few years on some projects. The night before the Facebook post was made he wanted to meet to discuss a new project. The last i heard from him heard was that morning. We had a quick discussion and were going to meet later. I doubt anyone will hear from him for a long time. I removed all the projects I did for him. I am a bit upset over the whole thing. He always talked like he was a champion of abused women when I was around him. I believed him because of his cult like abuse background. Sadly I was wrong.

General Discussion / Resist movment questions
« on: January 19, 2017, 01:38:31 PM »
Hi all,

Does anyone know who created the new "resist" movement? Their website declares no leaders or real origin of their moment. Those are the foundations I want to learn about when encountering a new social moment.
From their website.....
 "Who created the RESIST symbol?
We are a diverse group of people: everyone from recent graduates to retired engineers to designers and artists who came together to channel our political disappointment into constructive action."

On Sunday I yanked out my new TEP by mistake. I was at a trampoline park and breathing heavily. When I pulled my scarf away from my neck I tugged the tab and popped it out. I drove home with no valve in the fistula between my airway and my foodway, which meant I couldn't eat or drink anything, and there was a lot of juicy coughing. Not to bad overall though. My fistula doesn't close up too quickly, so I was fine for the hour it took to get home to put the thing back in.

It took about half an hour of real time. This 5 minute video is the compressed version, taken by taping my phone to the bathroom mirror. Next time I'll use the front-facing camera so I can see what it sees instead of aiming for higher quality video.

Pretty cool that you learned how to fix it. Crummy that  you  pulled it out by accident. What an amazing invention. I was state trampoline park Saturday working. I was so sad I did not get to bounce.

General Discussion / skeptical spectacles?

At what age did you put on your skeptical spectacles and realize there are frauds and scams in plain sight ? I was about 5 when I first questions and my 16 I started to really get thicker skeptical spectacles.

General Discussion / Haven't read the big books
« on: December 05, 2016, 10:49:41 PM »
Being a critical thinker and a bit of a skeptic as a kid growing up I came to these self evident conclusions mostly on my own. I feel as a result of that I never felt the dire need to read any of the "old white men" series of skeptics top 5-10 books. Do you think any of them will help me understand my own process better. I have only read FlimFlam and Science as a candle in the dark. Is it worth my tim to read the  Dawkins, Shermer, or Hitchens kind of stuff. I never much like them when I watch their video clips.
