Title: Local Time
Post by: daniel1948 on January 21, 2019, 09:46:55 AM
I just noticed that my local time is listed as Pacific Time. Post times are displayed accordingly, as is current time. I looked for a way to change that and couldn’t find one. I have listed my location (Kihei, Maui, HI) and just now added my location to the map, which I had never done before even when I was in the Pacific Time Zone. This didn’t change anything.

Have I missed something?

Yes, it's under 'Look and Layout' under your member profile.  You'll need to enter the UTC offset for your location if the auto-detect function doesn't work properly

Thank you. Look and Layout was hidden in a drop-down menu, but I found it and fixed it. Apparently the board knew my old location, either from my original sign-up, or it detected it, but didn’t detect my current location. Maybe because I’m using a tablet here? Anyway, problem fixed, and thanks.

It doesn't auto-offset based upon your physical location, it is set based upon your profile and anywhere you log in would reflect the same local time. You likely set that up manually form your old location.

Just as a reference, it doesn't automatically change with position.  It basically updates only when you go in and change it.

ETA:  Wastrel beat me to it.

Thanks. It just wasn’t obvious where to find that setting until you told me, because it’s under a drop-down menu. But now I know where to find it, if I ever decide to leave paradise.

(Where I used to live in North Dakota, the high today is 15 F. and the low will be zero F. In a few days it will be 5 F. for the high and 18 below zero F. for the low. This afternoon I walked down to the beach, played in the ocean for a bit, and the sun had me warm and dry (no towel needed) in about 5 minutes. I probably won’t need to change my time zone setting again. ;D )
